Why Software Developers are LIT🔥? And why I became one?

Hey there, mate 👋 You must have read a ton of articles this weekend about several developers and why? how? when? they become a developer. But here I will tell you why developers are lit 🔥.

Before moving to the good stuff, my name is Ketan Saraf. I just graduated out of highschool (no I am not a kid 🙄) and have been exploring the web development and startup space for more than a year. Now let’s get into the gooood stuff 👇.

What can Developers do?

There are a lot of fields in software development, and the only prerequisite for each of them is the passion for learning and patience (cause we hate them bugs) to grow.

Literally anyone can create their own side-project and if they find their product/market fit BOOM you have got yourself a startup.

Building a startup can be intimidating for some people, but worry not there are tons of communities built by your fellow developers and founders to support each other from ideation to launch. Talking about communities, let’s go to the next point 👇 .

Awesome Communities and People

If you are active on Twitter, you might already know about this, but there are a ton of developers on Twitter who are actively sharing content and creating communities to support developers like you. These communities can be a great place to fuel your growth. You can consult industry experts on various topics under their expertise. Here is a helpful list, but remember there are a lot more.

Why do I love these communities?

  • Open-minded and collaborative people
  • Always something to learn
  • Awesome meetups
  • Crazy hackathons
  • just for fun

Check out developer communities like Buildergroop, MLH, Community Classroom and EddieHub

Speaking of Hackathons 👇

Free Swag!!

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love the high of winning and getting free stuff. We developers love it but apart from there are other things you just can’t forget:

  • Creating Awesome Projects
  • Learning several technologies
  • Collaborating with people from all parts of the world
  • So many all-nighters (sigh)

Check out Devpost for the latest upcoming Hackathons, and shoutout to Hashnode and MLH for hosting them regularly. (🙏)

Now on to some serious stuff (you might wanna sit down for this).

Why I became a Developer?

Building a software is not just about earning money. But it’s about empowering and helping your users. If you see most of the successful products out there, you will see that they have users who are undying fanatics of their product. Every successful developer is proud of their creation and the impact it has on their user.

Let’s take Shopify, it has created an easy solution for anyone who wants to launch their own business. There are more than 3,740,000 Shopify stores currently online, and more than 500 million people buy from these stores each year. So many people's livelihood depends on Shopify. Hence, their impact is astronomical.

That’s why I became a developer. I want to create a product that helps their user. Its as simple as that.
